Keratitis means "inflammation of the cornea", the clear front of the eye that covers the pupil. Keratitis may be caused by eyelid disorders, contact lens disorders, chemical irritations, infections and foreign bodies in the eye.

Symptoms of keratitis include blurred vision, eye irritation or pain, glare and sensitivity to light.

Treatment varies from medication to simply removing contact lenses and using preservative free artificial tears until the eye heals.
