When I called the office; I was seen that day and followed up on for several consecutive days to make sure the eye was healing. I was surprised; really. I expected to hear; 'We can see you tomorrow'; or a couple of days later.
Also; I am so happy that I was prepared with the new glasses the optical experts had fitted me with several months ago. As a very long time contact lens wearer; I never kept a pair of glasses I was comfortable wearing in public!! They were for the times I just had to wear them.......at HOME!! This pair of glasses is the first pair I have ever had that I was confident looked good; felt good on and didn't make me look like a dork!

"As always my office visit with Dr. Adler and staff was pleasant with little waiting time. There was some slight confusion regarding payment for the eyeglasses. While I understand that Medicare doesn't pay for refractions it does cover 'one pair of eyeglasses with standard frames after cataract surgery that implanted an intraocular lens.' (see p. 20 of Medicare Handbook 2010. Further the patient is expected to pay 20% of the Medicare-approved amount.
I needed a new pair of lenses; for which I provided my old frames. I am covered by both Medicare and Tricare. Tricare picks up the 20% that Medicare doesn't cover. Yesterday I paid $50 for the refraction and $20 for the part that apparently Medicare doesn't cover. However; I am thinking that this should be covered by Tricare. Please review the situation when you receive payment from Medicare and Tricare. Thanks; Rita Berman " |

"I appreciate Dr. Adler's willingness to see me right away (at 4:45) when I called to say something was wrong with my left eye. He investigated the problem thoroughly and made suggestions about what could be done to help the swelling and pain in my eye. He called me later that evening to make sure my condition wasn't getting any worse. He asked me to come back the next morning. Luckily my eye improved greatly overnight. I came back and Dr. Adler again checked to see if there were any lingering problems with the eye. I don't think either of us really knows what happened with my eye but I appreciate Dr. Adler's expertise; attention and concern.

I very much appreciated how he took the time to explain to me what he was looking for during the exam so my responses could be the most accurate and helpful to him. He was also very sensitive to my personal and financial needs; and respectful of my desire to switch to glasses even though there was a chance my vision might not be as good. Although he was very reassuring himself; he referred me out for a second opinion on a possible medical issue just to be sure. I felt like Dr. Adler cared about me and gave me 150% of his time and attention while I was there.
Sharon in the optical shop waited patiently while I tried on every pair of glasses in the store; and I felt very good about my choice of frames in the end. I was disappointed that the lab was a little slower than I'd hoped (holiday weekend was probably one factor); but they called me immediately when my glasses arrived. My vision has never been better. Dr. Adler prescribed some type of special lenses that would help me adjust to wearing glasses again; adjusting for peripheral vision and a totally unrecognizable adaption from computer work to bifocals. I am able to see and drive at night for the first time in 10 years; and I can read the tiniest print on prescription bottles and cereal boxes for the first time ever. My improved vision has really given me more confidence and has greatly improved my quality of life.

| "I am extremely pleased at the excellent vision correction I have received; but more pleased with the service and personnel that work with Dr Adler. I have never spent more time with a doctor in my life during a routine exam. Dr Adler asked thoughtful questions about my entire vision history and diagnosed my problem and fitted me with incredible contact lenses. I could not be happier. I can see the numbers on my cell phone as well as see 20/20 for distance!!!" |

| "Very personable and thorough as well as Personal care. This is 'crazy' for a patient/client to say; but your rates are too generous for the amount of time you spend and the followup care that you give. I'm not suggesting that you go up a lot all at once; but you really should not be giving me 45 minutes of time and charging a mere $50. As a comparison; when I used to go to a local (unnamed) opthalmologist; I would pay $110 for a less thorough exam; especially for a prescription and that was several years ago. Yes; I realize that he has an M.D.; nonetheless... " |
